Job Summary:

As a Pharmacist at Food City, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our customers by dispensing prescribed medications, providing education on health promotion and disease prevention, and selling non-prescription medications and related goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional patient counseling services to customers, promoting efficient and courteous interactions.
  • Follow Food City's operating policies and procedures, including compliance with governmental laws and regulations.
  • Maximize sales and profits by promoting customer satisfaction and achieving acceptable levels of gross margin.
  • Direct the duties of department associates during the Pharmacy Manager's absence, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for pharmacy associates, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure associates' motivation and enthusiasm are maintained at a positive level, setting a standard of conduct for the department.
  • Fulfill prescriptions, evaluating them for completeness, accuracy, and legality.
  • Maintain accurate patient information to ensure the safety and appropriateness of prescriptions.
  • Ensure prescription pricing adheres to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Manage inventory levels, overseeing the merchandise ordering process and product selection to maintain optimal Rx turns.
  • Maintain high-quality inventory, closely inspecting returns and out-of-date products.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate security and loss prevention policies and procedures.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork and reports.
  • Prepare and dispense medications, providing over-the-counter recommendations as needed.
  • Enforce and maintain all safety policies and procedures, identifying potential hazards for associates and customers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, directing normal housekeeping duties.
  • Operate the cash register as necessary during pharmacy technician breaks and lunches.

Requirements:

  • Valid and active state-issued Pharmacist license.
  • Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy environment, preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and electronically, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and interact with various levels of individuals daily.
  • Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, with extra time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
