This specialized 18-bed cardiac unit is dedicated to the management of both cardiac and vascular patients. The typical patient demographic includes individuals diagnosed with conditions such as chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergencies, AAA repairs, carotid endarterectomies, and pulmonary embolisms. Our unit operates as a hybrid facility, accommodating acute, intermediate, and intensive care patients. Our nursing team comprises both telemetry and ICU nurses, ensuring a high standard of care. The nurse-to-patient ratio generally stands at 1:4 for non-ICU patients and 1:2 (occasionally 1:3) for ICU patients. In cases of higher acuity, ICU nurses may manage a 1:1 patient ratio for those on advanced devices like CRRT, IABP, and Impella. Our nursing professionals collaborate closely with cardiologists and vascular surgeons, along with their teams, to deliver exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities
The staff nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care to patients across the lifespan, employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. He/she operates within the policies and procedures of the organization, demonstrating professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is tasked with upholding standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum Experience Required:
At least one (1) year of nursing experience in a hospital environment is required.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law:
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
BLS certification is mandatory.
Additional Qualifications:
Preferred two (2) or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Advanced certification in the specialty field, if applicable (refer to addendum).
Demonstrated clinical competency is essential.
Experience in Critical Care and Cardiac Telemetry is advantageous.
Additional Required Certifications:
- ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or Horizon Program Participants entering into a specialty unit will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of program commencement)
