Inalab Consulting is seeking a Research Budget Support professional to assist the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in enhancing Government staff capabilities within the Office of Budget Operations. This role encompasses support in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Budget, Research Budget, and International Programs Budget.

Responsibilities

Support for Research Centers and Institutes

  • Provide comprehensive budget assistance to resource advisors at the USAFA Research Center and Institutes.
  • Ensure adequate support services align with the increasing number of USAFA Research Centers and Institutes.
  • Offer policy recommendations for program funding efforts to resource advisors.
  • Process various research documentation (e.g., load sheets, journal vouchers) for appropriate government financial offices.
  • Monitor and analyze research obligations, expenditures, and funding requests, preparing reports for Office of Research meetings.
  • Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective financial actions as necessary.

Research Budget Management Assistance

  • Assist Office of Research leadership in initiating and monitoring research budget programs.
  • Facilitate communication between Office of Research leadership, Office of Budget leadership, and other relevant departments.

Support for Research Budget Team

  • Oversee monthly reviews, reporting, and year-end closeout processes to ensure optimal use of research funds.
  • Utilize standard budgetary methods and statistical analysis to evaluate current and historical research budget data.

National Science Foundation (NSF) HERD Survey Support

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of the annual NSF HERD Survey concerning USAFA research funds.
  • Understand the significance of the NSF HERD Survey as a key source of information on research and development expenditures in higher education.
