Role Overview:
The registered dietitian employs the nutrition care process to evaluate, diagnose, provide nutrition interventions, and monitor the nutritional status and progress of patients.

The registered dietitian adheres to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Practice in Nutrition Care and Standards of Professional Performance.

This role involves active participation in delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Conducts nutrition-focused physical assessments, gathers measurements, reviews medical histories, collects data through interviews, utilizes validated tools, evaluates anthropometric data, and calculates estimated comparative standards.
+ Diagnosis:
  • Analyzes assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition-related issues, criteria indicative of malnutrition, knowledge gaps, and/or high-risk health behaviors.
+ Intervention:
  • Provides nutrition recommendations, orders, education/counseling, and/or referrals to additional services.
+ Education and Counseling:
  • Delivers counseling and education that reflects appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity for patients requiring nutritional management.
Utilizes evidence-based theories and concepts, including the transtheoretical model and motivational interviewing.

Qualifications for Success:
Minimum Requirements:

+ Active registered dietitian status with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
+ Current active license in the practicing state.
+ Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field AND
3 years of clinical experience OR
Graduate degree in nutrition or a related field AND
1 year of clinical experience.
