Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Certified Surgical Technician in our Surgical Services Department.

Job Summary: As a Certified Surgical Technician with Marshall Health Network, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care within the Operating Room under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will follow departmental standards, policies, and procedures to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform surgical hand scrub, set up back table and Mayo stand for handling instruments and assisting the surgeon during surgical cases assigned.
  2. Ensure the use of sterile asepsis during surgical procedures are maintained.
  3. Follow departmental policies for decontamination of surgical suites at the beginning, between, and on completion of surgical cases during the shift.
  4. Assist in decontamination, disinfecting, and/or sterilization of all instrumentation and equipment.
  5. Ensure adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated caseload during the course of the shift.
  6. Transport patients, supplies, and specimens as directed.
  7. Work in a harmonious manner with team members.
  8. Deliver care according to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  9. Practice positive customer relations techniques.
  10. Respect patients' privacy, rights, and values and provide care accordingly.
  11. Attend educational offerings and maintain a minimum of 16 contact hours annually.
  12. Assist in re-stocking and ordering supplies for the Operating Room suites and warmers.
  13. Follow safety and infection control policies and procedures within the department.
  14. Attend unit meetings.
  15. Assist in orienting new employees.
  16. Participate in hospital-wide, interdisciplinary CQI process as directed.
  17. Take responsibility for specific projects that ensure compliance to standards of environment of care, management information, care of patients, and infection control.
  18. Complete all annual competencies for assigned areas of responsibility.
  19. Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills.
  20. Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
  21. Participate in quality improvement activities, including serving on quality improvement teams.
  22. Perform other related duties as required.
  23. Comply with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies, and Employee Handbook.
  24. Cross-train to other areas as assigned.
Education and Formal Training: High school education. Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent experience required. Certified ORT preferred.Physical Requirements: Must be able to withstand long periods of standing. Must be able to walk, lift, and assist in the transporting of patients. Must be able to work in areas where cleaning and disinfecting chemicals are used. Must demonstrate visual and aural acuity. Must demonstrate manual dexterity to manipulate instruments and equipment.

Work Experience: One year OR tech. preferred.
