Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for Swift County, the Cities of Benson and Appleton, and other local agencies.
  • Answer 911 calls and dispatch emergency response units, including fire, ambulance, police, and first responders.
  • Enter data, book suspects, and oversee the custody, welfare, and security of inmates.
  • Log inmate activity, assist deputies with booking, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of organization and office policies, practices, procedures, departmental legal guidelines, recommendations, best practices, ordinance, and laws.
  • Ability to enforce institutional rules firmly and fairly, detect potential behavior problems of inmates, and provide credible testimony in court.
  • Ability to work rotating and/or extended shifts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and be available for callout and overtime.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
