Lactation Consultant

The Lactation Consultant at Catholic Medical Center is responsible for providing expert lactation management services to new parents. This role is a key part of our hospital's commitment to supporting breastfeeding families.
Responsibilities- Provide lactation management services to new parents, including assessment, education, and support.
- Develop and implement individualized lactation plans to meet the unique needs of each family.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for breastfeeding families.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in lactation management.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance lactation services.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
- Previous experience in maternal-child health nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required.
- Completion of Breastfeeding Continuing Education Program (BCEP) required during employment.
This role requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking standing for brief periods of time.
Working ConditionsThis role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment and to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
