Job Responsibilities

As a Special Education Teacher, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing individualized learning plans for students with behavioral and developmental challenges. You'll work collaboratively with an educational and clinical team to deliver programming that addresses the unique needs of each student.

Your duties will include classroom management, instructional responsibilities, and supervising educational technicians. You'll also be involved in TCI safety restraints, BHP, ISP, and IEP tracking.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need a Bachelor's degree and Maine State certification as a Teacher of Exceptional Students (282) or Teacher of Students with Severe Intellectual and Associated Impairments (286), as appropriate to the position and age level of students. You'll also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
