The Rowitch Laboratory is in search of a dedicated Postdoctoral Scientist to contribute to innovative research projects. Our lab explores critical mechanisms in glial developmental biology related to human conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and brain tumors.
Are you prepared to engage in transformative research?
In this role, you will work autonomously while closely collaborating with the Principal Investigator and fellow Research Scientists. Your responsibilities will include executing both routine and advanced laboratory techniques throughout your training. You will analyze and interpret research data and may contribute to the drafting of grant proposals. Participation in scholarly publications and presentations as an author or co-author is expected, although you will not be responsible for securing grant funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals without the obligation to secure funding.
- Contribute to publications and presentations as an author or co-author.
- Design and conduct experiments, maintaining accurate experimental records and collaborating with the Principal Investigator to analyze results.
- Develop, adapt, and implement novel research techniques and protocols.
- Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile research data.
- Perform both routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout the training period.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Observe interactions between medical professionals and research subjects as relevant to ongoing studies.
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements:
- A Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in a field directly related to the area of research specialization is required.
- Acquisition of comprehensive technical and theoretical knowledge of the research project and objectives during a one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.
- Prior experience in a basic neuroscience laboratory is highly preferred.
- Experience with mouse handling is a significant advantage.
