As a key member of our Sports and Recreation Department, you will play a vital role in implementing programs that promote wellness and support the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with skill instruction, coaching, and creation of drills, practice sessions, and games for assigned programs.
  • Officiate games as needed, including calling fouls, rule violations, and communicating with coaches and players while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Accurately record scores and statistics for sports programs.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of facilities for programming, including fields, courts, and special events.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with participants to ensure a positive experience and promote program participation.
  • Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem-solving and escalate to supervisor as necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings, clinics, and training sessions as requested.
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality to programs, events, games, and meetings.
  • Adhere to J and departmental policies as set forth by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Prior experience as a player, coach, referee, or scorekeeper is desired.
  • Prior knowledge of rules of play for sports offered is desired, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar sports is essential.
  • Must be able to count and calculate statistics related to games.
  • Desire and ability to work with children (for youth programs) is required, with prior experience working with children preferred.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to relate across multiple groups.
  • Must have the ability to accept guidance and supervision.
  • Must be able to assist in emergency situations, including fire, evacuation, illness, or injury.
  • Good character, integrity, and adaptability to changing situations are required.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control are essential.
  • Must have the auditory, visual, ambulatory, cognitive, communication, and physical ability to move equipment around the playing field/court as needed.
  • Must be physically capable of performing manual labor, working both indoors and outdoors, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
