Job Summary

East Ohio LLC is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work with patients of all ages who have limited abilities to establish, develop, and/or maintain the ability to complete daily functions and tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills
  • Improve patients' basic motor functions and reasoning abilities
  • Assist patients in performing all types of activities, ranging from using a computer to caring for daily needs, such as dressing, cooking, and eating
  • Incorporate physical exercises to increase patients' strength and dexterity
  • Use computer programs to help patients improve decision-making, abstract reasoning, problem-solving, perceptual skills, memory, sequencing, and coordination
  • Instruct patients with permanent disabilities in the use of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs and orthotics
  • Design or make special equipment needed at home or work
  • Develop computer-aided adaptive equipment
  • Arrange employment, evaluate work environment, plan work activities, and assess patients' progress; collaborate with patients and employers to modify the work environment, so work can be successfully completed
  • Provide guidance to family members and caregivers in safe and effective methods of caring for individuals
  • Evaluate patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress
Requirements

Occupational Therapists work in a variety of settings, including rehabilitation/outpatient facilities, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. Evening and weekend work may be required to fit patient schedules. The job is physically demanding, requiring standing for long periods, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Proper body mechanics and procedures for lifting/moving patients must be followed to guard against back injury.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited OT program and current OT license, in good standing with the State licensing board, are required. Cognitive skills related to the position are also necessary.
