Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive individual to join our team as a Native American Health Services Liaison at the University of New Mexico. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Native American Health Services patient access programs and related services
  • Work with pueblos, tribes, and nations to facilitate access to UNM Hospitals and extend health resources to rural communities in New Mexico
  • Represent the organization at community and business meetings, promoting existing and new programs and policies
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership through identification of problems and opportunities for improvement, program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Process priority one referrals, working with Hospitals providers, clinical staff, and referring providers/clinical staff to facilitate patient placement or outpatient services
  • Serve as liaison for Tribal issues and problem-solving for Native American patients
  • Develop collaborative relationships with other departments/services and community health care agencies, facilitating and supporting quality care in area of clinical expertise
  • Work to eliminate barriers to access to culturally competent medical services for all patients, assisting patients to access community resources, and financial assistance programs and services that are needed
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in a related field
  • 2 years directly related experience
  • Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
Working Conditions

This role requires working in an office environment, with occasional travel to various work sites. May be required to perform on-call duties, work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
