Service Writer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Writer to join our Fleet Operations team at the City of Garland. As a Service Writer, you will be responsible for responding to customer requests, coordinating repair services, and documenting warranty requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Listen and interpret customer requests for equipment/vehicle service and repairs.
• Record needed service and repairs in the Fleet focus FA application and generate a work order.
• Coordinate repairs to equipment/vehicles by outside vendors as needed.
• Take digital photos of damage if needed and contact vendors for estimates, arrange replacement vehicle and deliver damaged vehicle to vendor.
• Enter or update requisitions and purchase orders as needed to pay for outside vendor services.
• Coordinate timely building, car wash and stationary shop equipment repair with outside vendors.
• May issue payment(s) for design repair invoices with City-issued P-Card.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred qualifications include 6 months - 1 year vocational training in automotive repair or maintenance scheduling, 4 years experience writing and scheduling work orders, ASE Certification in one or more areas.
