The Water Ecology Research Scientist role at the City of New York focuses on performing water quality assessments within urban aquatic environments. This position is essential for ensuring the health of local water bodies through systematic monitoring and analysis.
- Employ GIS technology for the creation and enhancement of water quality reports
- Analyze yearly data trends and update statistical representations
- Manage field team schedules and provide oversight to field operations
- Mentor interns and engage in community educational initiatives
1. A Master's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline
2. Proven experience in water quality evaluation, environmental management, or laboratory research
3. Additional qualifications may be necessary for higher assignment levels
Desirable Skills:1. Familiarity with data quality assurance and control
2. Expertise in GIS applications
3. Experience in preparing comprehensive annual reports
4. A valid driver's license in New York State
