Job Summary/Description:


KCTV5 in Kansas City is seeking a creative individual with a keen eye for news, capable of narrating compelling stories through the lens of a camera.

The ideal candidate should be self-driven, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Key responsibilities include capturing video footage, conducting interviews, gathering information, editing content for broadcast and digital/social media platforms, setting up and executing live shots, and utilizing ENG cameras and cellular live broadcast devices (Live U), along with other assigned tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collecting video and audio for news stories
  • Conducting daily live shots
  • Editing content for television and online platforms
  • Participating in the entire editorial process, including sourcing, developing, gathering, constructing, and presenting stories

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of prior experience in videography within a television newsroom
  • An Associate or Bachelor's degree in journalism, television production, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in nonlinear editing
  • Experience with LIVEU technology
  • Demonstrated ability to post content on social media platforms
  • Capability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Availability for a flexible schedule with on-call assignments
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required prior to employment
