Job Summary

Vistant is seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team. As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining tissue specimens, as well as archiving and cataloging slides.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process, embed, and microtome tissue specimens for histological examination
  • Perform routine, special, and immunohistochemistry staining on tissue specimens
  • Archive and catalog slides, maintaining accurate records and databases
  • Conduct physical inspections of slides to identify and catalog specimens
  • Establish and maintain user-friendly electronic systems for archival research and record-keeping
  • Respond to inquiries from members of Vistant and provide guidance on accessing and interpreting slide archives
  • Identify ways to protect and preserve collections, and handle, analyze, and interpret medical documents and reports
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of experience in histotechnology, with a focus on preservation, fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining of tissue specimens
  • Experience working with anatomical pathological tissue in all stages of specimen collection, handling, and storage
  • Knowledge of tissue identification through visual acuity and analytical skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histology certification or certifiable
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service-driven, with a focus on internal and external customers
Education and Security Requirements

Minimum education: High School Diploma

NAIC DHA Background Investigation required

Must be a US Citizen

Work Environment

Full-time position, 2nd shift, 8 hours per day, with a 30-minute break

Onsite work environment

Salary range: $40-42/hour
