ITS serves as the central IT organization, delivering essential IT resources, systems, services, and tools to the university community. The Customer Relationship Management (CRM) team plays a crucial role in establishing a Salesforce-first initiative, aligning with the university's strategic objectives to enhance the student experience.
About the Position:
The Senior Salesforce Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for the analysis, testing, documentation, and implementation of CRM software (Native Salesforce and Connected apps) along with other related application systems within Salesforce and their integration with various enterprise systems. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders and team members, including Salesforce Architects, Developers, and Administrators, to fulfill project requirements, complete tasks, and communicate project updates effectively while adhering to university policies and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Analysis
- Conducts thorough analyses of requirements by reviewing business needs and technical specifications related to Salesforce implementations;
- Collaborates with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure clarity and completeness of requirements.
- Creates comprehensive test plans that outline the scope, objectives, and methodologies for testing Salesforce applications;
- Identifies test scenarios, cases, and data requirements based on functional and technical specifications;
- Develops detailed test cases covering all aspects of Salesforce functionality, including customizations and integrations;
- Executes both manual and automated tests to validate that Salesforce applications meet specified requirements;
- Performs regression testing to ensure that new enhancements do not adversely affect existing functionality;
- Documents and tracks defects discovered during testing, providing detailed information for developers to replicate and resolve issues;
- Collaborates with the development team to ensure timely resolution of identified defects;
- Conducts performance testing to evaluate the responsiveness and scalability of Salesforce applications;
- Identifies and addresses performance bottlenecks in conjunction with the development team;
- Verifies the seamless integration of Salesforce with other systems, ensuring data flow and consistency;
- Ensures the availability of relevant test data for Salesforce testing purposes;
- Develops and maintains data sets to cover various testing scenarios.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of test cases, scripts, data, and processes;
- Provides reports on test execution progress, defects, and overall quality metrics.
- Stays informed about Salesforce updates, best practices, and industry trends;
- Identifies opportunities for process enhancements and contributes to the evolution of testing methodologies.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and business analysts, to ensure a collaborative approach to quality assurance;
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders to report testing progress, issues, and recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Extensive QA experience (typically five or more years);
- Significant experience as a Salesforce QA Analyst in CRM application development and integration projects;
- Experience working in a Salesforce environment (typically 2 years or more);
- Familiarity with integration of third-party products with existing infrastructure;
- Knowledge of Salesforce connected app architecture;
- Experience with the latest tools, best practices, QA methods, and Agile delivery;
- Understanding of user interface issues related to navigation and usability;
- Exposure to enterprise systems such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.;
- Knowledge of Lightning, Visualforce, Apex;
- In-depth understanding of testing methodologies and security standards;
- Strong troubleshooting skills within Salesforce and related platforms;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to perform various types of testing with proper coverage;
- Capability to define and implement improvements to testing processes;
- Ability to analyze software requirements for feasibility of testing;
- Willingness to acquire new knowledge and assist other staff on projects;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in high-pressure environments;
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks;
- Ability to work effectively in self-managed and team-based Agile projects.
- Salesforce Developer and/or Administrator training certificates or equivalent preferred;
- Experience within the higher education sector;
- Experience with test automation tools.
