Job Summary
This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing quality checks on a specified line, ensuring that all product meets customer specifications before it is packed into cases and shipped to the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform morning start-up line checks and perform shut-down procedures.
- Must be proficient at all machine set up and troubleshooting in the packaging area.
- Must assist in break and lunch coverage as needed.
- Must have the ability to determine if product meets proper specifications or not and inform supervisor or take corrective action as needed.
- Must have the ability to coach line workers on acceptable versus unacceptable product.
- Must have the ability to perform daily and weekly Autonomous Maintenance line walks.
- Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification.
- Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Powdered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have good verbal and communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must be a self-motivated individual who can work with a minimal amount of supervision.
- Must have good knowledge of the Cooked Department with up to 6 months experience in that department or the equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties.
- Must have the ability to safely lift up to 30lbs.
- Must have the ability to work indoors in a damp changing environment for duration of the shift.
- Ability to travel stairs.
- Ability to learn and understand cross contamination issues and how to avoid them.
- Must wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job.
- Must know customer specifications.
- Must have the ability to retain knowledge for future use.
- Ability to operate specific equipment or tools.
