In this role, you will oversee all quality-related activities on assigned projects and ensure adherence to the Quality Implementation Plan (QIP). You will engage in design phase activities and review documentation. A solid understanding of design documents is essential, as you will conduct pre-construction meetings, initial inspections, and ongoing evaluations to confirm compliance with the design specifications. You will advocate for the use of materials and finishes that ensure long-term quality performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate the QIP for each assigned project.
  • During the design phase:
    • Facilitate the design quality kickoff meeting.
    • Ensure completion and approval of design reviews at 30% and 100% stages.
    • Identify quality risks and formulate mitigation strategies.
    • Review final documents for all assigned projects personally.
    • Ensure geotechnical, concrete, and envelope reviews are conducted for all projects. Review geotechnical reports and advise relevant stakeholders on critical information.
  • During the construction phase:
    • Conduct the construction quality kickoff meeting.
    • Assist in selecting and evaluating independent testing laboratories to support project construction. Develop budgets, manage contracts, and monitor scheduled activities, including reports, field activities, tests, and inspections. Distribute test results to the appropriate design and QA team members.
    • Finalize remaining quality risks with comprehensive mitigation plans.
    • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure all pre-construction meetings required by the QIP are conducted.
    • Schedule and conduct all initial inspections and monitor the progress of required corrective actions.
    • Work with the Design Principal, Project Manager, and Superintendent to ensure all site observations are performed. Conduct assigned QA inspections, prepare reports, document deficiencies, and track the progress of corrections.
  • During the closeout phase:
    • Ensure that completion conferences with Haskell and subcontractors are conducted and documented in cooperation with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
    • Monitor the creation and completion of AE punch lists.
    • Conduct final QA punch lists, document findings, and verify completion of deficiencies.
    • Hold a lessons learned meeting with the Project Director, Project Principal, and Project Manager, prepare a lessons learned document, and distribute it to the project team and Director of Quality.
    • Generate concise, thorough, and well-structured reports for each QIP activity you oversee, distributing them promptly.
    • Communicate potential inconsistencies, deficiencies, errors, and omissions to the QA Manager or Director of Quality. Prepare monthly summaries of all assigned QIPs, note trends, and participate in monthly QIP meetings.
    • Participate in QIP audits with the QA Manager and/or Director of Quality as requested.
    • Engage in a minimum of 8 hours of professional development annually to enhance your knowledge base.
    • Provide quality training on specific subjects as requested (minimum of 1 per year).
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, and Certifications:
  • Certifications (minimum of 2 from the following): CQM (government), ACI level I and II, RCI Roofing Inspector, Structural Steel Erector, Soils testing, and mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering for non-engineers.
  • Ability to read and interpret building construction documentation and related reports effectively.
  • Ability to conduct effective pre-construction meetings to establish quality standards and inspection protocols. Ability to inspect construction progress at scheduled intervals.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients' quality assurance personnel and provide guidance to ensure compliance with testing and inspection procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, with travel exceeding 50% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires ordinary ambulatory skills to visit various locations and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity are necessary, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity for using a keyboard, operating equipment, and reading documentation. Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing are also required.
