Job Title: Surveyor Assistant

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Surveyor Assistant to join our team. As a Surveyor Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our operations team and interacting with various staff members at all levels.

Job Summary:

The Surveyor Assistant will be responsible for providing surveying services, including construction survey and layout on bridges, highways, foundations, and other related heavy civil projects. You will assist with survey computations and data collection, prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as-built surveys, and conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide surveying services, including construction survey and layout on bridges, highways, foundations, and other related heavy civil projects.
  • Assist with survey computations and data collection, including construction layout calculations, grade sheet computation, topographical/volume analysis, and project data conversion/transformation.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as-built surveys.
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  • Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with land surveying.
  • Field work experience is a must.
  • Experience must show current proficiency operating a robotic tool station, GPS, and level.
  • AutoCAD experience is not required but viewed favorably.
  • Knowledge of geological description principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, and government regulation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Valid Driver's License required, and candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Report background check.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment drug screen.
