Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician

About the Role:

Hitachi Rail is seeking a skilled Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician to join our team in Pearl City, HI. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing corrective, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance on passenger vehicle electro-mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance tasks on assigned passenger vehicle electro-mechanical equipment, including inspections, adjustments, testing, cleaning, and lubrication.
  • Identify and troubleshoot complex system and subsystem issues to support field technicians in diagnosing and correcting faults.
  • Produce accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Analyze log files to troubleshoot complex issues and provide corrective action.
  • Perform re-railing tasks and maintain re-railing equipment in accordance with training and qualifications.
  • Drive trains in MSF in accordance with training and qualifications.
  • Operate OTE to move trains in and out of the shop and for wheel truning activities in accordance with training and qualifications.
  • Operate wheel truning machine, wheel press, trains lifts, and other MSF equipment in accordance with training and qualifications.
  • Support the on-site spare parts management and the repair cycle from/to the site.
  • Support the preparation of the fleet performance maintenance technical report.
  • Produce work blocks and job hazard analysis pertaining to planned work.
  • Conduct job and safety briefings as required.
  • Perform duties as instructed/directed by Rolling Stock and Depot Lead and/or Manager and the Rolling Stock Engineer.
  • Complete assigned operational, equipment failure, safety, and other reports as required.
  • Participate in training programs as required.
  • Comply with Safety Rules, Operating Rule Book, and first-aid procedures.
  • Use electronic test equipment, power tools, and other specialized hand tools as required.
  • Ensure the execution and collection of all maintenance records and support the monitoring of day-to-day maintenance performance.
  • Ensure conformance to technical specifications and compliance with operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Ensure that sufficient materials, tools, and equipment are on hand, calibrated, and in good condition for maintenance activities.
  • Early identification of failure trends that may impact fleet availability.
  • Perform simple failure analysis and technical investigation.
  • Ensure that corrective and preventative maintenance tasks are executed in compliance with the company safety policy and local regulations.
  • Comply with all maintenance procedures and instructions, including safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Execute health check procedures before vehicles are put into service.
  • Execute and collect all maintenance records and support the monitoring of day-to-day maintenance performance.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of identified rolling stock and first-line response maintenance safety standards.
  • The role requires flexibility and efficiency, which requires shift rotation, weekends, and holidays work typical of major infrastructure projects, and operating transit systems.
  • Perform additional cross-functional job duties on unrelated track and third rail systems, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controlled systems, in accordance with training and qualifications.
Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in railway equipment/environment.
  • Knowledge of technologies, maintenance, railway safety rules and regulations, and use of maintenance tools.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education:

Bachelor's Degree or High School in technical area or equivalent technical background.

Languages:

English-Proficient.
