Chief Director of Emergency Medical Services

The University of California seeks a highly qualified Chief Deputy Director to lead the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA). As a key member of the EMSA team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing emergency and disaster medical services in the State of California.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership in the innovation and administration of the EMS system throughout the state.
- Set standards for the training and scope of practice for various levels of EMS personnel.
- Promote disaster medical preparedness throughout the state.
- Coordinate and support the State of California's medical response to major disasters.
- Evaluate each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience.
- Administer, plan, organize, and direct a major administrative operation in a large, public, human services agency.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad group of partners statewide.
- Develop procedures and guidelines consistent with departmental policies and interpret these policies to staff.
- Analyze and evaluate complex and administrative problems and recommend effective solutions.
- Plan, organize, and direct the work of a multi-disciplinary staff.
- Knowledge of governmental financial administration and management, organizational structures, and current trends in emergency medical services.
- Ability to administer, plan, organize, and direct a major administrative operation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
