Mechanical Field Specialist

Position Overview:
The role of a Field Engineer is essential as the primary connection between office and field operations, ensuring effective communication and support through technical expertise, material oversight, and execution of designs aligned with production budgets and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Support
- Independently manage all mechanical and structural systems required for each project to ensure timely coordination among all vendors.
- Review, analyze, and resolve field construction challenges, discrepancies, or conflicts with architects, owners, and contractors.
- Participate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) meetings; develop necessary design adjustments using appropriate software and design tools.
- Create and submit comprehensive weekly project reports, overseeing budget management.
- Communicate project progress and status effectively with leadership.
- Promote job site safety among the entire project team.
- Establish precise exterior-interior point locations and working lines while evaluating additional potential dimensions.
- Set control points and layout all under-slab, sleeve, and in-bed locations accurately.
- Create detailed isometrics and views necessary for installation.
- Perform heat gain and loss calculations to select and verify mechanical equipment type and size, ensuring safe and effective equipment operation.
- Develop plumbing designs to accurately size drainage, water, and gas piping systems.
- Translate and maintain 'As-Built' drawings and digital designs into physical installations for field personnel, providing ongoing support throughout the project.
- Address on-site code and design inquiries to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
- Review structural overlays and shop drawings to identify potential conflicts with design; escalate issues as necessary.
- Manage submittals to ensure timely approvals and communicate changes to align with project specifications.
- Effectively manage multiple ongoing construction projects simultaneously.
- Communicate and collaborate with project teams, including internal operations, field staff, vendors, and clients, to ensure successful project completion.
- Coordinate change orders, expedite material and equipment delivery, assist in preparing estimates, and compile data for project progress analysis.
- Generate and communicate equipment schedules for builders, architects, engineers, and other trades as required.
- Identify and navigate conflicts affecting installation or potential delays due to site conditions or design conflicts, resolving coordination or scheduling issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Building Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Construction Engineering, or 5+ years of construction experience with strong MEP aptitude and proven leadership ability. Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Familiarity with basic construction methods and document interpretation.
- Basic knowledge of Building Information Management (BIM) platforms such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to focus and drive projects to completion.
- Aptitude for prioritizing tasks and problem-solving.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with MS Project is a plus.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proven leadership capability.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- A desire for growth and challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Responsibilities include both indoor and outdoor tasks, with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Must be willing to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Work environment may involve loud noises, mechanical parts, heights, and confined spaces.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Limited travel may be required.
