Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Trades Generalist to join our team at the New York State Civil Service. This is a full-time, hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform work on residential water and sewer systems to service facilities operated out of the Green Island Maintenance Center and the Warrensburg Working Circle.
  • Perform basic electrical work to make minor repairs and perform all aspects of carpentry, including roofing, building rehabilitation, new construction, and building repair.
  • Make material lists, obtain quotes, and lead projects to completion.
  • Assist with hazardous tree removal and dock install and removal at various boat launches and Lake George Islands campgrounds.
Requirements
  • Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson, which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
  • A valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas, and work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required, and weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response and able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
