Position Overview

Job Title: Catholic Music Director

Location: Memorial Chapel

Weekly Commitment: Approximately 10-12 hours

Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Master's degree in sacred music, musical performance, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a music director within Catholic worship environments, with skills in playing piano, organ, or comparable instruments.
  • Experience in directing choirs and musical groups.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead musical accompaniment on piano, organ, or keyboard during worship services.
  • Act as the primary vocalist or cantor when required.
  • Conduct weekly rehearsals with choir members, musicians, and volunteers, ensuring thorough preparation for services.
  • Prepare comprehensive music selections and provide clear instructions.
  • Offer essential musical support, including prelude and postlude music, offertory, hymns, choruses, spiritual songs, and special music that enriches the worship experience.
  • Guide, mentor, and integrate all musicians and vocalists involved in the music ministry, ensuring cohesive and stylistically fitting performances.
