Job Summary

Southland Holdings is seeking an experienced Estimator - Heavy Civil Transportation to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for cost engineering scopes of work and incorporating solutions from the engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up services groups to produce an estimate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complete discipline-specific estimates for very large, complex industrial projects.
  • Read specifications and develop notes for unique or extraordinary items.
  • Understand project past cost data for benchmarking and comparison to estimates.
  • Coordinate with design teams to influence the lowest cost of construction.
  • Facilitate cross-discipline communication and train and mentor estimators.
  • Stay current on industry trends and developments, such as new equipment, means, and methods.
  • Communicate critical issues and estimate assumptions to senior managers.
  • Schedule and prepare for estimate reviews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a similar field of study from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant estimating experience, with 5+ years of experience estimating on Heavy Civil Transportation projects.
  • Experience with HCSS, Blue Beam, Primavera P6, and Procore, AutoCAD, or similar software.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15-20%.
Working Conditions

This is an onsite position, requiring regular, reliable attendance and the ability to work productively and meet deadlines timely. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
