Welder II

We are seeking a skilled Welder II to join our team at Federal Signal Corporation. As a Welder II, you will be responsible for the fit-up and welding of components with stainless steel content, operating gas torches, plasma torches, grinders, jib hoists, and overhead cranes, and maintaining a clean and safe workplace.

• Fit-up and weld components with stainless steel content
• Operate gas torches, plasma torches, grinders, jib hoists, and overhead cranes
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace
• Participate in a job rotation program to maintain skill levels with respect to welding technique and product knowledge
• Confined Space Certification is required, and training will be offered by the company
• Must submit for medical surveillance according to Vactor's Hexavalent Chromium Program

• Minimum of 2 years of welding or industrial experience with strong mechanical aptitude required
• Able to operate all machines and tools in the department
• Able to pass a weld test
• Able to read blueprints, tape measures, diagrams, work orders, and work instructions
• Basic math skills including fractions required
• Able to weld mild steel as well as stainless steel using the GMAW (MIG) process
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Must have good knowledge of weld symbols, processes, and procedures
• Must be able to use jigs and fixtures to produce weldments
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to work in prolonged postures (bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, and squatting) while performing all job tasks
