Position Requirements:

  • Must hold American Citizenship

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Directly reports to the Weld Supervisor
  • Configures welding equipment in line with the WPS and possesses a comprehensive understanding of it
  • Passes the D1.1 bend test for 1.0" A-36 plate and the 1688 HY80 bend test for 2" plate
  • Proficiently uses a grinder for appropriate pre-weld joint preparation and post-weld cleaning
  • Interprets welding symbols and constructs prints
  • Visually inspects own welds and succeeds in the Welder Workmanship Training examination
  • Proficient with hand tools including measurement instruments
  • Confirms compliance of workpiece to specifications
  • Differentiates between varying metal material thicknesses
  • Assists senior Welder/Fabricators when required

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum of 1 year of welding experience in a production setting or completion of a weld certification program from a technical school
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform tasks that involve bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, walking, and standing for prolonged periods
  • Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Desirable Skills:

  • NAVSEA 1688 welding exposure
  • Proficiency in GMAW, GTAM, and SMAW methods
  • Background in heavy structural, Military, or Aerospace welding
  • Operation of overhead crane
