Position Overview: Ship Repair Superintendent
We are in search of a Ship Repair Superintendent to oversee and manage comprehensive ship repair and maintenance initiatives. This position demands a highly skilled professional with significant experience in ship repair, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a strong commitment to ensuring project quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage ship repair and maintenance projects from inception to completion.
- Create detailed project plans, encompassing timelines, budgets, and resource distribution.
- Guarantee that all repair and maintenance tasks comply with established quality standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Leadership and Team Coordination:
- Lead and supervise repair teams, including skilled tradespeople, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Quality Assurance and Safety Management:
- Establish and oversee quality control measures to ensure all work meets the highest standards.
- Enforce safety regulations and protocols to maintain a secure working environment and mitigate risks.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients and stakeholders regarding ship repair projects.
- Address client inquiries, deliver project updates, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resolve any issues or concerns that may arise during the repair process.
- Financial and Resource Management:
- Develop and oversee project budgets, including labor, materials, and equipment expenses.
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure financial efficiency and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Coordinate the procurement of necessary materials and equipment for repair projects.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all repair activities, including work performed, materials utilized, and compliance with regulations.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and outcomes.
Position Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in Marine Construction Supervision, with tradesman experience at the journeyman level in a Marine Construction environment.
- BA/BS degree plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS degree plus 4 years of directly related experience.
- Proficient in computer applications including Outlook, Excel, and Project.
- In-depth knowledge of modern shipbuilding practices, including the development and application of build strategies, master schedules, product work breakdown structures, material requirement planning, product modeling, work order creation, budgeting, resource allocation, and detailed scheduling.
- Prior journey-level experience in a shipbuilding trade.
Compensation: Salary range from $90,000 – $120,000 per year.
