Role Summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Avionics Technician III to join our team in the Space Systems department. As an Avionics Technician III, you will be responsible for performing avionics inspections, installations, and pre and post installation checkouts on composite and metallic flight hardware. You will also operate or support crane lifts, scissor and boom lifts, and forklifts. Additionally, you will understand, follow, and complete work instructions, and contribute to safety, quality, process, and work instruction continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform avionics inspections, installations, and pre and post installation checkouts on composite and metallic flight hardware
  • Operate or support crane lifts, scissor and boom lifts, and forklifts
  • Understand, follow, and complete work instructions, and contribute to safety, quality, process, and work instruction continuous improvement
  • Adhesive bonding, surface preparation, fixturing of large composite structures
  • Check completed products for conformance to specifications and defects

Requirements
  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or other relevant field
  • Expertise in aerospace avionic installation and testing, and specific equipment to perform require tasking
  • Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse teams in a dynamic environment displaying a strong work ethic with close attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small restricted areas
  • Perform repetitive work including lifting of heavy items, >50lbs
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications
  • A Strong desire to understand, and continuously improve production processes
  • Understanding of equipment maintenance and diagnostic principles and failure root cause and corrective action (RCCA)
  • 5S and Lean Experience beneficial
  • Previous or currently ordinance handler certified
  • Rigging and Crane operator certification
  • Pneumatic Power Feed Drilling experience
  • Proven success as a hands-on technical leader
  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field
  • Experience in handling/moving large aerospace components
  • ATF Certification for handling and/or installing explosives
  • Experience working on payloads, fairings, capsules
