Overview:
The Practical Nurse provides essential care for patients who are ill, recovering, or living with disabilities in various healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers prescribed medications and initiates intravenous therapy, accurately documenting all actions in the patients' electronic health records.
  • Monitors patients closely, reporting any changes in their conditions, including adverse reactions to treatments, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Responds to patient inquiries and determines the best course of assistance.
  • Records vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Delivers basic patient care, which may include taking temperatures, measuring blood pressures, dressing wounds, and performing catheterizations.
  • Ensures a safe environment by adhering to organizational policies and procedures, promptly addressing any safety hazards.
  • May undertake additional tasks as requested.

Additional Information:
BLS certification is required prior to independently providing patient care and must be maintained.

Required: Licensed Practical Nurse
Required: BLS Certification

Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited LPN program or state eligibility.

Working Conditions:
Ability to lift and move 30 to 50 pounds.
Flexibility to work alternate shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
