Position Overview

The Physical Therapist is tasked with designing, executing, and managing a physical therapy treatment plan in alignment with medical referrals and evaluations to enhance or sustain students' health while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy services in accordance with physician directives.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant patient care standards, licensure requirements, and state regulations.
  • Develop a comprehensive written assessment outlining physical therapy needs, objectives, progress, and anticipated outcomes in collaboration with the referring physician's treatment plan.
  • Engage in the coordination of services with the healthcare team, including physicians, parents/guardians, and nursing staff.
  • Foster effective communication among staff, healthcare professionals, and families.
  • Act as a resource consultant for clinical personnel.
  • Supervise additional staff members (PTA, HHA) as necessary.
  • Complete OASIS assessments as permitted by state regulations.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Valid and unrestricted state license as a Physical Therapist in the practice location.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proven expertise in clinical evaluations, documentation, and adherence to nursing care policies and procedures.

Additional State-Specific Requirements:

  • Continuing education as mandated by state regulations.
Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of recent experience as a Physical Therapist.

  • Effective time management skills.
  • Proficient problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Physical Demands

  • Ability to speak, write, read, and comprehend English.
  • Capability to travel as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
  • Ability to sit and navigate stairs.
  • Visual and auditory acuity is essential.
  • Strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Ability to reposition patients and move equipment independently.
  • Capability to respond appropriately to emergency situations in various settings.
Work Environment

  • Must be adaptable to diverse environments that may involve exposure to allergens and other conditions.
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
