Journeyman Electrician for Solar Installations

Minimum 2 years of experience in solar system installations is required.

The Electrician will manage the electrical aspects of solar installations, which include wiring, grounding, interconnection, and conducting inspections for both rooftop and ground-mounted solar systems. Responsibilities encompass running conduit (either surface-mounted or through attic-runs) and installing junction boxes on the roof as necessary. You will also be tasked with mounting inverters, combiner boxes, final PV disconnects, and energy storage solutions. Determining the route for the final connection and executing the final interconnection will be part of your duties. Additional responsibilities include engaging with customers, enforcing safety protocols, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining overall customer satisfaction. You may also oversee 1-2 apprentices on-site. It is essential to adhere to all mechanical specifications for solar electric installations related to array layouts, racking, and module installation, whether on rooftops or ground-mounted, in accordance with provided plans.

• Installation of systems that connect solar arrays to the electrical grid of residential properties.
• Supervising and executing the installation of racking, modules, inverters, combiner boxes, grounding, disconnects, and related wall work.
• Ensuring that all work conducted by electricians meets high standards of craftsmanship and complies with current NEC and local regulations.
• Troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues within the system.
• Collaborating with the roof installation team and homeowners to implement necessary system upgrades or repairs to support solar equipment.
• Representing the company during electrical inspections as required.
• Assisting in ensuring that all necessary electrical materials and tools are available at the job site.
• Helping to complete installation and commissioning reports as needed.
• Conducting system commissioning and function checks.
• Safely transporting solar installation materials from the warehouse to job sites.
• Installing all Balance of System (BOS) and wall equipment.

Qualifications:

• Residential Wiremen license or Journeyman license is REQUIRED.
• Thorough understanding of the NEC as it pertains to solar electric system installations, specifically Articles 250, 690, and 705.
• Proficiency in designing PV systems, including electrical wire sizing, conduit sizing, installation methods, and conduit bending.
• Ability to execute timely installations with successful inspection outcomes.
• Capability to coordinate and complete Main Panel Upgrades and service enhancements.
• Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and plan sets.
• Ability to work in challenging environments (sun, cold, crawl spaces, attics).
• Comfortable working on rooftops, climbing ladders, and navigating stairs.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic computer and smartphone proficiency required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Able to coordinate scheduling for installations, service work, and manage a crew of 2-4 individuals.
