Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner

The Licensed Practical Nurse Medical Oncology provides high-quality patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified healthcare professional. This role involves participating in patient care activities commensurate with the Scope of Practice.
ScopeThis includes:
- Performing basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
- May perform specific nursing care related to the specialty of practice.
- Collecting patient data such as vital signs, noting how the patient looks and acts, or responds to stimuli, and reporting this information accordingly.
- Preparing and administering injections, performing routine tests, treating wounds, and changing bandages.
- Preparing patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
- Administering medications within the scope of license and monitoring and documenting treatment progress and patient response.
- Participating in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Monitoring and documenting treatment progress and patient response.
- Conveying information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Participating in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Administering medications, IV therapy, blood draws, and laboratory testing and resulting.
- Promoting mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abiding by service behavior standards.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program is required.
Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required.
If applicable - Must have additional specialty certifications.
May need IV certification.
PreferredOne (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting is preferred.
One (1) year Specialty clinic experience is preferred.
