  • Develop accurate and timely estimates for Pre-Construction Department projects.
  • Review bid documents, including pre-bid information, addenda, and project specifications, to ensure comprehensive understanding.
  • Prepare detailed proposals for plan and spec projects, including piping and sheet metal take-offs, subcontractor solicitations, and site condition verification.
  • Update material and equipment unit pricing in estimating systems quarterly, incorporating pipe, valves, fittings, and other relevant components.
  • Update labor factors based on employee performance data collected from company projects.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site inspections to verify conditions affecting project pricing and installation.
  • Communicate project specifics to installation teams during turnover meetings.
  • Prepare estimates for change order work on ongoing projects as requested.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed for estimate preparation.
  • Maintain a well-organized work environment conducive to accurate and timely estimate development.
  • Operate and maintain a computerized estimating system.
Requirements
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in HVAC piping and sheet metal estimating.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications, construction plans, and contract requirements.
  • Experience estimating commercial (Mechanical) projects.
  • Experience negotiating subcontracts for project installation.
  • Experience selecting components and devices required for complete installations (Design-Build & Plan&Spec).
  • Broad understanding of construction, particularly piping and sheet metal systems.
  • Understanding of the submittal process required for typical construction projects.
  • Understanding of installation costs and requirements for proper project closeout.
