Job Summary:

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at Tacachale in Gainesville, FL. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for providing dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride and sealants, and root planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride and sealants, and root planning.
  • Aid the dentist with procedures and emergencies as needed.
  • Instruct patients in preventive dental techniques.
  • Complete and maintain records of patients.
  • Take and expose radiographs.
  • Plan, develop, and conduct a dental health education or preventative program.
  • Perform activities related to surveillance and evaluation of preventative programs.

Requirements:

  • Licensed as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with Florida Statute 466.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Dental terminology
  • Dental hygiene principles and practices

Skills in:

  • Performing dental prophylaxis
  • Using dental instruments and equipment

Direct Deposit Program:

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

Background Screening Requirement:
