Position Overview

Hearst Television is seeking a talented Local News Visual Storyteller and Content Creator. This role is designed for an individual who excels in capturing dynamic visuals and transforming them into compelling narratives for our audience. You will engage in extensive fieldwork, utilizing your skills in shooting, editing, and producing live segments that resonate with viewers. Your contributions will also include editing for broadcast segments, ensuring that our content meets the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capture and edit various news segments including VOs, VO-SOTs, teases, and packages for both broadcast and online platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to effectively cover daily news stories.
  • Utilize professional camera equipment for shooting assignments.
  • Edit footage using Adobe Premiere and manage the transmission of completed work to the station via ENG, SNG, and wireless data.
  • Collect video and still images for digital media platforms.
  • Work closely with producers, reporters, and management to create high-quality news stories.
  • Coordinate incoming video content from field crews.
  • Maintain organization of video storage systems for easy access and retrieval.
  • Publish and manage content on our online platforms.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and organization of all equipment.
  • Perform additional editing tasks as directed by news management.
Qualifications
  • Formal training in video photojournalism.
  • 1-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience operating ENG trucks.
  • Comfortable working in diverse weather conditions.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficient in digital editing tools.
  • Familiarity with computer software, including Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
  • Ability to thrive under the pressures of time-sensitive news production.
  • Military experience related to this field will be considered.
Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is between $48,000 and $60,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including skills, experience, business needs, and market conditions.
