Position: Mid-Level Security Assessor

Remote Work: Must be available to work during EST hours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform independent security evaluations of various environments, including on-premise and cloud systems (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and applications.
  • Assess existing security processes, including automation and service delivery models.
  • Provide system administration support for the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) module, including upgrades, patching, and account management.

Additional Duties:

  • Manage the master assessment schedule and coordinate security evaluations.
  • Lead and facilitate assessment meetings as necessary.
  • Conduct independent evaluations of security controls as outlined in the System Security Plan (SSP).
  • Perform risk assessments based on the findings from security control evaluations.
  • Prepare Security Assessment Reports (SAR), document Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and create Executive Summaries (ES).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business or Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the outlined tasks.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Technical Expertise:

  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Experience utilizing the Cybersecurity Assessment Management (CSAM) tool in an RMF Assessor capacity.
  • Strong understanding of NIST Special Publications, including SP 800-53.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
  • Experience assessing systems and applications in both local and cloud environments, adhering to federal guidelines and best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, engineers, and managers on system teams.
  • Understanding of computer networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes and tools for assessing and mitigating risks.
  • Awareness of laws, regulations, policies, and ethics related to cybersecurity and privacy in a federal context.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

Professional Skills:

  • Proficient in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks while ensuring timely delivery of milestones.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with system teams and cybersecurity leadership.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of working collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
