Join Our Team

We're seeking a highly skilled Microbiology Lab Manager to join our team at the Columbus Plant. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for implementing food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and training
  • Drive and implement holistic plant sanitation and micro programs, policies, and procedures for plant, warehouse, and plant grounds
  • Assure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and all food safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborate/coordinate with Facility Supervisor, Operations Leadership, Operations Associates, and Site Cleaning Crew to achieve desired Environmental Monitoring performance and Pest Control performance
  • Evaluate facility sanitary conditions, assess risk based on food safety and public health principles, prioritize corrective actions, and verify sanitation activities and validation testing
  • Manage Plant Microbiology Lab, evaluate monthly environmental samples for monitoring of pathogenic organisms in plant, trend the results, and develop corrective actions
  • Conform to master cleaning schedule and applicable cGMP guidelines, best practices, and requirements
  • Assist in developing and implementing all sanitation-related training for sanitation and plant employees as needed
  • Ensure all safety requirements related to sanitation are met, including proper chemical storage, MSDS, PPE, and procedures
  • Maintain and write detailed clean-up procedures and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures for all plant equipment, driving towards reduced water and air usage
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Bacteriology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or other technical degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in nutrition, food, or allied industry
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory management
  • Minimum 5 years of working in a regulated FDA/GMP environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding and application of microbiological principles with in-depth foodborne pathogen knowledge
  • Certification as a Sanitarian and Pesticide Application
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Sanitation principles, and Food Safety Preventive Controls (FSPC)
  • Understanding of the appropriate wet cleaning and dry cleaning methodology
  • Experience in successfully addressing environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains, floors, walls, roofs, and equipment
