At Stateline Family YMCA, we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for our members and guests. As an Early Morning Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our community by maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere in the pool area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pool Surveillance: Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment for all.
- Emergency Response: Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
- Member Relationships: Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Safety Protocols: Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform equipment checks and ensure that all necessary equipment is available and in good working condition.
- Pool Condition Checks: Regularly check the pool for hazardous conditions and take corrective action as needed.
- Chemical Testing: Perform chemical testing at appropriate times of the day and take action as required to maintain safe water conditions.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
- Education: Some high school education required; coursework in lifeguarding and/or water safety preferred.
- Certifications: Lifeguard certification required; basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration required.
