Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity for a talented civil engineer to work on infrastructure-related projects with a focus on roadway and drainage expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices, as well as experience with design software such as AutoCAD C3D and ArcGIS.

Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering designs, including plans, profiles, cross-sections, paving, grading, and utility details.
  • Generate engineering plans using AutoCAD C3D.
  • Perform construction quantity estimates.
  • Cross-train in all civil engineering disciplines, including pavement, grading, drainage, water, signing, and pavement marking, storm water pollution prevention, and traffic control.
  • Coordinate plans, calculations, and specifications among a multi-discipline engineering team and subconsultants.
  • Ensure designs, plans, and calculations are complete and accurate.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices related to the design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects.
  • Knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials used in surface and underground construction and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of floodplain regulations as it relates to development of property.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD C3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer (MicroStation/GEOPAK), and ArcGIS.
  • Skill in use of roadway, water, sewer, and drainage criteria.
  • Skill in interpreting engineering specifications.
  • Ability to apply local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to engineering design and construction administration.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate materials, information, and resources associated with engineering projects.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Must have effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have polished and proven people skills with a focus on interacting well with a diverse population and providing excellent customer service.
  • Skill in public speaking and ability to make effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, including proficient listening skills, rules of grammar, practices of document preparation, and conveying technical information in a tactful, concise, and easily understood manner.
