Job Summary

To ensure the smooth operation of surgical procedures, we are seeking a skilled Surgical Tech I-Transplant to join our team at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. As a key member of the surgical team, you will be responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining inventory of surgical equipment and supplies, and providing basic surgical support.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly sterilized and stored.
  • Assist the surgical team with room setup, sterile field management, and handling of specimens and instruments.
  • Assess equipment, instrument, and supply needs for surgical procedures and ensure availability.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures.
  • Follow infection control policies, AORN recommendations, and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
  • Knowledge of surgical techniques and equipment, as well as UMMC infection control and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Working Conditions

This role requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environments, including high noise levels and exposure to heat and cold. You will also be required to handle potentially hazardous materials and equipment.
