Senior Automotive Chassis Design Engineer

This role involves high-level engineering activities, including decision-making on product design issues such as drawing, engineering specifications, cost estimation, development timelines, and testing for suitable projects. The incumbent will also handle supplier design issues to expedite tasks like problem-solving, engineering reviews, analysis, changes, and timing.
The position requires collaboration with the development and testing teams to implement required engineering changes in chassis subsystems, optimize product performance, and ensure quality, reduce costs, and meet schedules.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop chassis components and subsystems for redundant drive-by-wire steering and braking systems for commercial vehicles.
- Evaluate technical content and make effective decisions to ensure product target performance requirements are met.
- Analyze, perform FEA, and work with CAE teams to validate material strength, stiffness, and fatigue safety factors.
- Collaborate with suppliers or other parties to define design requirements and create statement of requirements documentations.
- Support component sourcing process by defining design requirements and creating statements of requirements documentations.
- Provide technical documentation to support Isuzu internal departments and companies' activities.

- Reports to: Director, AE Vehicle
- No direct reports
Education, Experience & Training:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Minimum five years of experience in design and development of chassis subsystems and component design, steering systems, braking systems.
- Minimum five years' experience with CAD software, automotive chassis-related UGNX design experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in NX Check-Mate (Siemens) or GM DCS operational environment / equivalent.
Knowledge:
- Development process of automotive chassis components and subsystems.
- Automotive parts knowledge for material (metal, plastic, textile), production process, requirement, test method, regulation, and development process.
- Familiar with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard and Society of Automotive Engineers/American Standard Test Method.
- CAD/CAM and PC computer system usage and maintenance.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient PC skills in Windows applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong ability to sketch and read drawings.
Physical Standards:
- Employee must be able to perform occasional light lifting (5-25 lbs) and rare heavy lifting (60 lbs).
- Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel, and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties.
- Position requires 10-20% domestic and international travel, including overnight stays.
The estimated salary range for this role is between $92,161 and $117,505.
