The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) delivers anesthesia care at Virginia Commonwealth University Health, catering to patients across all age demographics.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
To be eligible for hire, candidates must possess:
- A valid RN license in Virginia
- A current license to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Virginia
- Certification from the National Board on Certification/Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
Ongoing Employment Requirements:
To maintain employment, the following must be upheld:
- Valid RN License in Virginia
- Current CRNA license in Virginia
- Completion of 40 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two years
- Credentialing in line with medical staff by-laws specific to the role
Experience:
- Required: No prior experience necessary
- Preferred: Experience in an academic healthcare setting and at least one year in the specialty practice area
Educational Qualifications:
- Required: A Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution focused on the area of practice. Candidates with advanced practice licensure may be within one semester of completing their MSN Degree or higher, which must be finalized within six months of hire to ensure continued employment.
- Preferred: Not applicable
Independent Responsibilities:
Applicants must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal regulations, along with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards relevant to the primary objectives of the position. Compliance with VCUHS policies and customer service standards is essential.
