About the Role

The Corporate Governance Associate General Counsel will provide core legal counsel and services to the business, utilizing their legal training and experience to guide the Company's business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing counsel to one or more business units by applying knowledge of corporate law and corporate governance in the business context in which issues arise.
  • Researching legal principles and precedents pertinent to issues affecting client business.
  • Consulting with outside counsel and providing guidance.
  • Drafting and executing legal documents.
  • Assisting other attorneys in representing the organization in legal disputes and transactions.
  • Advising senior attorneys of changes in legislation or regulations that impact the company.
  • Participating in developing company policies and procedures governing corporate law matters.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8 years of related experience.
  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Relevant corporate governance or transactional experience in a large law firm or corporate law department.
  • Legal experience in a broad range of governance issues affecting large financial institutions or large public companies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; leadership and people management skills.
