Machine Repair Technician 2nd Shift

We are seeking a skilled Machine Repair Technician 2nd Shift to join our team at Avery Dennison. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of activities to include service and repair of all machines, equipment, and structures in and around the site.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to the production team to produce superior quality materials that meet/exceed client needs.
- Examine mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble and locate and diagnose failures.
- Replace defective components and perform basic troubleshooting using standard equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
- Assure correct positioning of production machines and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Properly inspect and maintain shop equipment, in accordance with OSHA regulation.
- Install functional and structural parts in devices or equipment and prepare new machines and production equipment for operation.
- Follow a strict preventive maintenance schedule to lessen exposure to downtime related repairs and maintenance.
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment using testing instruments, hand and power tools, and precision-measuring instruments.
- Disassemble machines and repair or replace broken parts.
- Adjust functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
- Clean and lubricate parts and inspect completed repairs.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (e.g., GED)
- 5 years demonstrated experience in a mechanical repair environment. Applied education and/or apprenticeship is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of precision measuring equipment and hand tools.
- Demonstrated experience/working knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, and shop math.
- Demonstrated experience/working knowledge in hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Must be proficient in the set-up and operation of mills, drills, lathes, grinders, surface grinders, etc.
- Good interpersonal skills, mathematical aptitude, mechanical/technical skills, and aptitude and logical problem-solving skills necessary.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with a highly participative work system.
- Ability to work independently in a safe and timely manner necessary.
- Motivated towards productivity improvements, safety, and quality awareness.
- Able to lift 50lbs alone and team lift 100lbs.
- Open to working overtime (there are periods of mandatory and voluntary overtime).
This is a manufacturing work environment. That means that there is exposure to heated equipment, dust, oil, cleaning solvents, and noise. There is frequent bending and stooping in this work. Most importantly, you must wear department-required safety equipment.
