Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

The Retail Operations Leader is accountable for the effective management and profitability of the retail establishment. This role encompasses the training, guidance, and oversight of all departmental personnel.


Core Duties:

• Ensure customers receive exemplary service in accordance with company standards, while also training staff to deliver outstanding customer experiences.

• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, providing strong leadership to both employees and the store.

• Uphold the highest standards of respect and integrity in interactions with team members, customers, vendors, and external partners.

• Address customer concerns in alignment with company policies.

• Create an inviting shopping environment.

• Ensure that popular products are readily available for customers.

• Manage special orders in accordance with company guidelines.

• Maintain a presence on the sales floor, assisting customers and supervising staff at least 75% of the time.

• Train staff to provide exceptional customer service and hold them accountable for their performance.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety certifications and regulations.

• Drive store and departmental sales performance, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.

• Order products from approved vendors to secure optimal discounts and maintain profit margins.

• Oversee the rotation and stocking of perishable goods according to company standards.

• Manage markdowns in compliance with company policies.

• Foster a holistic view of the store among staff, preparing them to assist customers across all departments.

• Collaborate with department managers to share staff resources as needed.

• Conduct performance evaluations for store staff, incorporating feedback from department heads.

• Participate in the hiring process for store personnel with input from department managers.

• Address performance and disciplinary matters promptly and appropriately, with support from Human Resources.

• Maintain open communication with store staff, including regular meetings and updates on company news.

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols at all times.

• Manage occasional disruptions to daily operations, such as loitering or emergency situations.

• Ensure timely updates to all operational edits.

• Proactively recruit, train, and develop staff for future leadership roles within the store.

• Provide effective training for new management on store operations.

• Encourage staff to enhance their product knowledge and stay informed about new offerings.

• Monitor departmental operations and hold managers accountable for their responsibilities.

• Complete daily operational tasks, including scheduling and reporting, in a timely manner.

• Address any issues with the home office and ensure resolution.

• Maintain a clean and appealing store environment.

• Respond promptly to departmental manager requests during shifts and assist with coverage as needed.

• Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including availability for evenings and weekends.


Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

• 1-2 years of management experience in retail or grocery, with a preference for natural foods.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities effectively.

• Must be able to complete food safety training and obtain necessary certifications.

• Forklift certification is required.

• Commitment to maintaining up-to-date food safety certifications through ongoing education.

• Strong sense of urgency in task completion.

• Excellent customer service skills are essential.

• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.

• Cashier training is necessary.

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
