We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Caregiver, Inc. in Anderson, IN. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to lead their best lives.
Job SummaryThis full-time position involves providing direct support to consumers on an assigned shift, including daily living activities, training activities, and ensuring their overall wellbeing. You will be responsible for facilitating personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access, among other essential responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate consumers in daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.
- Provide direct support to and assist consumers in training activities as specified in ISPs and activity schedules.
- Aid in mobility as needed for those using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
- Assist in bedroom maintenance and teach housekeeping skills and care of clothing.
- Assist with meal service, teaching dining skills and promoting social skills and personal dignity during meals.
- Administer medications and treatments according to company policy.
- Ensure the wellbeing at all times of the consumer(s) to whom you are assigned.
- Attend and successfully complete in-service training sessions as scheduled.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to fellow Direct Support Professionals.
- Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.
- A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
- Some previous experience in supporting/assisting those with disabilities is preferred.
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
- $13.65-$14.15 per hour.
