About the Division
The Virginia State Parks Division is dedicated to preserving the natural, scenic, historic, and cultural resources of the Commonwealth while offering recreational and educational experiences. We manage a network of state parks that spans over 75,000 acres, featuring extensive trails, campsites, cabins, and educational programs that engage over 10 million visitors each year.
About the Park
Clinch River State Park, a unique addition to our park system, features a series of access points along the Clinch River, promoting outdoor activities and educational initiatives focused on the river's ecological significance.
Position Overview
As a Park Ranger specializing in Maintenance, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within the park. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising maintenance staff to ensure facilities and grounds are safe and up to standard.
- Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on park buildings and grounds.
- Providing exceptional customer service to a diverse range of visitors.
- Managing fee collection and assisting with public relations.
- Demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven leadership skills in directing and training staff.
- Experience in customer service within public environments.
- Proficiency in using various tools and equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices, including landscaping and snow removal.
- Basic skills in construction and maintenance trades.
Additional Considerations
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Experience in automotive repair and maintenance.
- Familiarity with herbicide application and resource management.
- Experience in maintaining trails and ensuring site safety.
