Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Department Director to join our team at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with current facility, local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Supervise and direct other nurse leaders, managers, supervisors, licensed professionals, and para-professionals within the nursing department.
    • Ensure they follow established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assistance to the Director of Nursing
    • Assume all responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in their absence.
    • Familiarity with these functions is achieved through close association and constant communications with the Director of Nursing.
  • Infection Control and Pharmacy Services
    • Plan, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct an effective infection control program in accordance with all policies and regulations.
    • Coordinate pharmacy services.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance
    • Participate in MDS/CMI management.
    • Issue preliminary disciplinary action to nursing staff as needed.
    • Mediate family, visitor, and staff concerns.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Resident Care
    • Assume role of shift supervisor in the absence of such.
    • Maintain resident rights.
    • Maintain HIPAA, privacy, security, and confidentiality standards.
  • Corporate Compliance and Training
    • Follow all established policies and procedures.
    • Maintain Corporate Compliance standards and annual training.
    • Participate in Regulatory Compliance, including NYS Department of Health and Federal Surveys.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Review the care and treatment of patients, including laboratory reports, infection surveillance, monitoring resident change in condition, investigations, etc.
    • Coordinate the A&I process.
    • Attend QAPI meetings.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • MINIMUM: Associate's Degree in Nursing
      • PREFERRED: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
    • Experience
      • MINIMUM: 2 years' experience in supervisory nursing position in a long-term care setting
      • PREFERRED: 3 to 5 years' experience in a supervisory nursing position in a long-term care setting
    • Licensure
      • Valid NYS Registered Nurse Licensure
    Compensation

$89,440-$97,760 annual, dependent upon experience
